In October Dr Jean Callaghan was featured as adjudicator of the vocal sections of PACANZ (the Performing Arts Competitions Association of New Zealand) in Tauranga, New Zealand.
‘I have had very positive feedback since the awards, which without doubt have been the most successful to date. It was a pleasure to get to know you a little, and I know that the competitors thoroughly appreciated your expertise, and were able to learn from your critique of their performances.’
— Annette Johnston, PACANZ National Administrator.
Following the competition Jean spent a week in Auckland and four days in Wellington. In Auckland, she gave a masterclass for singers at Auckland University and individual lessons for student singers. She also taught at the studios of several Auckland teachers and gave a lecture/masterclass for members of NEWZATS (New Zealand Association of Teachers of Singing) and their students.
In Wellington, she gave a special session on Objective Assessment of the Singing Voice for postgraduate students in the PG Diploma of Singing at the Wellington School of Music.
